At the International Construction Machinery Show in Las Vegas, USA in April 2023, Caterpillar announced the launch of a brand-new 13-liter diesel engine platform – Cat® C13D. The new engine has made significant breakthroughs in the transmission system, oil module, fuel injection system, exhaust gas post-treatment system, and variable turbocharger. It has greatly enhanced its reliability and performance. Today, we will take you through the detailed highlights of the Cat®C13D engine.

With a brand-new level of power density, reliable transient response, and greater torque and payload capacity, this engine can perform outstandingly at any operation site in multiple industries.

Compact machine greatly simplify the installation, efficiency is greatly improved, the engine is a highly integrated complete sets of equipment, specially designed for the convenience of installation space, can complete more work faster.

Ensure lasting power and a longer engine life. It has good durability, longer maintenance intervals, and provides reliable power throughout its entire life cycle.

  • Transmission System

Gear train before cancelling the traditional transmission system, but will be placed behind the engine drive system, adopted after the gear system. This innovative design not only significantly reduces noise and vibration, but also enhances power density and reliability.

  • Oil Oil System

New oil oil system, integrated water pump, oil cooler, oil filter, oil/coolant thermostat, multiple components integrated into one module, shorten the oil path, to reduce the risk of joint leakage, greatly enhancing the tightness.

The high-pressure fuel system C13D engine adopts zero static leakage injectors. The device can reduce noise, perform thermal management and improve fuel combustion, and control fuel consumption to the greatest extent.

By integrating the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and the diesel particulate filter (DPF) on a single carrier, space is effectively saved. Meanwhile, the C13D engine has also undergone SCR selective catalytic reduction and optimization of the control system, saving DEF and oil consumption for customers and meeting the requirements of high emission standards.

It provides customers with better configurability and greater flexibility. Equipped with multiple rotatable adapters, this design can come in handy when customers need to change the orientation of the pump. Moreover, the engine can be connected to up to 7 pumps simultaneously, supporting SAE A/B/C/D grade pumps to achieve greater power output.
